So, this is my entry for the February/March contest for NationalYarnographic, a group that I am a member of.
We were to crochet an animal with the theme of love for Valentines Day, and with that comes mating rituals and mating altogether~
In a hurry I whipped this fellow up, and caught up on The Walking Dead Episodes!
I couldn't resist giving it the function to look like it was "shaved" or "unshaved" so I have pieces of fluff strategically added to get the fluffy effect.
Alpacas mate just like any animal would for the most part. (If you'd like to see for yourself, check this out! [link]
They look kind of funny to me while mating, but I guess everything would
"Females are "induced ovulators"; the act of mating and the presence of semen causes them to ovulate. Females usually conceive after just one breeding, but occasionally do have troubles conceiving. Artificial insemination is technically difficult, but it can be accomplished. Alpacas conceived from artificial insemination are not registerable with the Alpaca Registry." - Wikipedia on Alpacas
"The Female will kiss the male well mating if she likes him. I use to work with them, they are so cute. If they do conceive the female will spit at the male. "
I just find Alpacas very intriguing in their behavior, habits and biological functions.. So that is why I chose the Alpaca for my entry.
Plus they are just so DARN CUTEEEE AND FLUFFFYYYYYYY!
I may go back and add black hooves, and maybe other slight details to it... but for now since I'm a last minute entry this will have to do~
